Shin splints are very common and affect over 3 million people in the U.S. per year. Shin splints happen when the muscles and tendons around the tibia become inflamed. It’s typically caused by over use of these muscles along the shinbone. They often occur in athletes who’ve recently intensified or changed their training routines. Possible indication of shin splints include:– Sharp pain along either side of the shin– Pain both during and after exercise– Mild swelling– Tenderness or Soreness

Fortunately, shin splints are very treatable. A combination of stretching, massage, physical therapy, and orthotics will treat shin splints. If you are noticing any of these symptoms please contact our office as soon as possible.
