Discolored, brittle, and thickened nails are often a sign of a fungal infection. This type of infection is referred to as Onychomycosis, and is difficult to get rid of. Typically patients will use generic over the counter anti-fungal creams until the fungus thickens and more advanced treatment options are needed.
